Diego Maradona Dies, Soccer legend Diego Armando Maradona, one of the greatest players of all time, has reportedly died at the age of 60 on Wednesday morning in Buenos Aires, according to the Argentinian newspaper Clarín.
Maradona, famous for leading his nation to the World Cup title in 1986, is said to have died from a “cardiorespiratory arrest”.
Another Argentinian daily, La Nacion, says that nine ambulances were sent to Maradona’s house in the San Andrés district of Buenos Aires, but that they could not get there soon enough to save him.
The reports of his death follow a spell of ill health. Maradona successfully underwent surgery for a a blood clot on the brain in a Buenos Aires hospital on November 4, before being discharged on November 12.
After that, he was moved to a residence near to his older daughter in the Argentinian capital.
Diego Maradona had turned 60 on October 30.
Argentina’s president, Alberto Fernandez, responede on Twitter, writing: “You took us to the top of the world. You made us immensely happy. You were the greatest of them all.”
“Thank you for having existed, Diego. We will miss you all our lives.”
